WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland’s parliament handed a regulation on Wednesday that would stop previous Polish property owners, which includes Holocaust survivors and their heirs, from regaining residence expropriated by the country’s communist routine.
Israel condemned the legislation, with Foreign Minister Yair Lapid stating it “damages both of those the memory of the Holocaust and the rights of its victims.”
The adopted modification would prevent house possession and other administrative selections from being declared void immediately after 30 many years. It has an effect on Jewish and non-Jewish homeowners who experienced properties seized in the communist period.
