Hancock County land trust expands Wildlands preserve and safeguards river

ORLAND, Maine — Nearly all of the Lifeless River’s shoreline will be shielded just after a new acquisition of a nearby 355-acre home by a nearby conservation group.

The Fantastic Pond Mountain Conservation Rely on introduced Wednesday that it bought the swath of forest and wetlands on the river in Orland and Bucksport from the Bella spouse and children. The acquisition will protect much more than a mile of shoreline and include to the trust’s 4,500-acre Wildlands preserve on the river’s opposite shore.

The new assets, dubbed Dead River West, has been a precedence for the rely on for yrs and was likely the last opportunity to shield the river’s shorefront and force the Wildlands park to the other side of the river.
