Homeless camp near Portland mobile home park causes frustrations

PORTLAND, Ore. — A homeless camp on Southeast Division Avenue is having above an RV cell house park. Citizens of the cellular dwelling park say men and women living in the camp have damaged into the park, robbed tenants and threatened them with weapons. 

The citizens explained to KGW it feels as if they are living by a nightmare and they never sense secure leaving their houses.

The sidewalk on Southeast 157th Avenue is protected in trash, tents and damaged-down autos.

Piles of garments and aged bikes line a chain website link fence – the only separation amongst Tall Firs RV mobile dwelling park and the camp.

“It’s most people about here on this side of the park which is acquiring the greatest troubles,” said Jeremy Robeson, who owns the park.

He explained the homeless camp moved into the place months back, but the challenge is acquiring worse. Now he has tenants who are leaving, which places his organization in jeopardy.

“My capability to get new tenants in there is basically zero for the reason that no one wishes to stay future to every little thing which is likely on above there,” he claimed.

People from the homeless camp are breaking in, threatening tenants with weapons and setting issues on fire, according to citizens. 

“It’s horrendous I’ve lived listed here 13 a long time, never ever the moment has this ever been like this,” explained Darla Sheets. “Junk everywhere you go, rats, no respect whatsoever— using over the avenue.” 

She place up barricades powering her household to quit men and women from camping there.

A further resident named Sandra Lundy claimed her house was just broken into and now she’s scared to go away. “I’m paranoid,” she added.  

Lundy said those people at the homeless camp are likely as a result of her trash and plug into her energy. She needs to transfer but just can’t afford to pay for it.

“We purchased, we paid out for it, we’re surviving and we’re executing every little thing we can to survive— we do not have to have them to add to it,” she said.

“We preserve obtaining them in the center aisles below people’s trailers having everything from cinder blocks to lawn mowers to children’s bicycles,” extra Louis Hanset who also lives at Tall Firs.

The citizens are annoyed by the absence of response from the town and law enforcement.

“The police, even when they exhibit up they say ‘Oh very well they’re homeless, we can give them a ticket but we seriously simply cannot arrest them or do anything at all about that,’” Robeson added.

Tenants have appeared into placing up a 6-foot fence but anxiety currently being attacked if they get also near to the camp.

KGW has reached out to the town, police and fire departments and are however ready on a reaction.
